The Student Work Unit, represented by the "Bid'a Arts Club", organized the "Saudi Coffee Day" event on the occasion of International Coffee Day.
The event was held at the "Bid'a" Club headquarters at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, to promote the cultural heritage and ancient traditions associated with preparing and serving coffee in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The event aimed to highlight Saudi heritage and shed light on the status of coffee in the culture of the local community, as Saudi coffee is a symbol of authenticity and generosity. The event also sought to introduce attendees to the traditional method of preparing Saudi coffee, in addition to providing an explanation of the tools used, such as the dallah, and their importance in the process of preparing coffee.
The event was distinguished by the presence of artistic paintings that reflect the symbolism of coffee in Saudi heritage, as these paintings embodied precise details related to hospitality rituals, and the traditional atmosphere surrounding the serving of coffee, in addition to embodying the relationship of Saudi society with coffee as an inherent cultural heritage. These paintings were an artistic means of documenting customs and traditions, and were admired by the attendees for their aesthetic and heritage dimensions. The event was attended by a number of female students and university staff, where interactive sessions were organized in which everyone participated to try preparing and tasting coffee themselves, which created an atmosphere of familiarity and communication among the attendees. In addition, information was presented about the different types of coffee in the Kingdom and the regions famous for producing the finest types of coffee.
The event concluded with special thanks from Ms. Rajasa to the event supervisor, student Maram Fahid Al-Dosari, in appreciation of her distinguished efforts in organizing and preparing this cultural event, which highlighted the ancient heritage values and created an atmosphere of enjoyment and benefit for everyone.
