Saudi Arabia witnesses in reign on the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques scientific renaissance, whereas universities number have increased to 24 universities. Those universities hold hundreds of colleges that aim to give Saudi students the chance of having knowledge and experience. According to the Royal Decree No. B/M 7305 dated on 3/9/1430H, Al Kharj University was established, which is the latest university have been established. Al Kharj University has rushed to comply the royal directions by opening colleges in Riyadh Southern provinces, which Sciences and Humanities College in Slayel was one of them.

The college has went through earlier stages, whereas it began in the second semester of the academic year 1427/1428 H as a female college named (Education College for females in Slayel). At that time, the college was honored by a Royal visit from Princes Jawhara bint Fahad Rector Riyadh University. It was officially opened in 27/1/1430 H by transferring female students of the Education College of Wadi Addawasir to the current college headquarter in Al Hanish high school in Ashefa District, which is the first headquarter of the college. In the year 1429/1430 H, colleges of Riyadh Southern provinces were transferred to King Saud University. Then, in the early of the year 1430/1431 H the Education College for females in Slayel was among the colleges that were transferred again to Al Kharj University. The college was renamed to be College of Sciences and Humanities and its temporary headquarter was in Slayel high school. Dr. Abdullah Faleh was the college’s first dean because of wide experience in this field.

College Departments and Students

The college is consisted from four departments for male students, which are Arabic Department, English Department, Computer Sciences and information Department, and Business Administration Department. It also consisted from four students for female students, which are Islamic Studies, Math, English and Computer Sciences and information. The college holds 600 students and 20 classroom and lab. In addition, the college gives its students Bachelor's degree in Arts and Sciences.
